by the invention of a charcoal cartridge for private protection throughout The 1st World War. With the increasing availableness of various kinds of adsorbents today, and the more recent interests in biotechnology and green technology, there has been an excellent expansion within the applications of adsorption in several areas. Adsorption using waste tire was able to remove 80% of the Cr species contained in a tannery effluent. Again, this work contributes for the environmental management from both sides: the development of an alternative adsorbent from a problematic waste (waste tire) and the application of this new material for the treatment of tannery effluents.
In an adsorption process, the solid is called the adsorbent and the solute is known as the adsorbate. Commercial adsorbents are highly porous, with pore sur-face areas ranging from about to 1, m2/g. The large surface area allows a large amount of adsorption relative to. Adsorption Processes for Water Treatment discusses the application of adsorption in water purification. The book is comprised of 10 chapters that detail the carbon and resin adsorptive processes for potable water treatment. The text first covers the elements of surface chemistry and then proceeds to discussing adsorption models.
Sea mango or Cerbera Odollam is another source of carbonaceous material that can be found abundantly in Malaysia. In this research, it is used as a new agricultural source of activated carbon. Sea mango activated carbon was prepared by chemical activation using potassium hydroxide (KOH). The sea mango was soaked in KOH at impregnation ratio of and followed by carbonization at . Emissions of organic vapor pollutants, arising mainly from anthropogenic sources have major environmental impact and the low emission levels required by increasingly stringent legislation are difficult to achieve. Adsorption on activated carbon can be used as a final stage for removal of very low concentrations of volatile organic pollutants present in air and gas streams.

This paper deals with the differences and similarities that are observed for isotherms of different adsorbates on activated carbon. In stead of the commonly used classification of isotherms in six “basic shapes”, a more general approach is suggested.
Each isotherm can be subdivided in different, distinct, parts, each of which is the result of a different adsorption mechanism. Adsorption of CHon carbon spheres showed a decrease in the adsorption heat with CHoccupancy, and the heat of adsorption fell from to kJ/mol at K and then increased to a little.
Adsorption has great cognitive and utilitarian importance and is widely used in industry and environmental protection. Moreover, adsorption makes stability of colloidal systems possible and initiates many biological phenomena. It also plays a significant role in agricultural chemistry, biology, physics, biophysics and several interdisciplinary.
During the past decades, desalination, water and wastewater treatment have been studied extensively to mitigate the water crisis and to protect environment. In recent years, a wide range of separation technologies such as membrane-based processes, adsorption, phase change-based technologies and electrostatic field-based technologies have been.
